Always make sure you melt enough wax for the project because topping off a candle doesn't always work out.  A lot of times you will end up with a visual seam.

When adding scent or color, add a couple of drops and fully mix, then add more.  This way you will get the correct strength.  Remember, you can always add more, but you can't take away.

Spray your molds with the mold lubricant, it will make releasing the candle so much easier.

1.Mold release in spray can is best

2.Use a candy therometer &know what temp. UR wax is to melt @.

3.A double boiler is best when melting w/small batches of wax.

4.Watch UR wax melt in a big pan. Wax overheated can catch on fire.

5.Make sure U have a good chunk of wax seal on UR mold,so UR pour doesn't leak out.

6.Metal molds are better in the long run vs plastic molds that have to be sealed.

7.Wax shrinks in UR mold as it cools off. Save some wax in a soup can to match UR wax .

8.Use a clean pair of old nylons to buff UR candle after cleaning up.

9.Use steric acid for a better burn in UR wax.

10.Want more info. e-mail me @haviland49@yahoo.com  I  started making candles  23 yrs ago. I just poured my last big batch, votivecontainer& mold ones.

I know that you should weigh and measure when you make candles, but I'm the glob of this, dollop of that type.  Most of the time that leaves me with too much wax left over when I'm done.  But, I've made some of the coolest candles by having to figure out how to work with the color already in the pot.  You have to be careful with wax (burns & fire) but you can experiment and come up with really creative things.

I'm new to this and I already love this website, but in going with the subject at hand, candles are fun. I go to second hand stores and other cheap stores to buy wineglasses and other interesting glass. I use them to make candles in, they wind up fantstic just like that but I also use stencils and paint on them. Good luck and have fun! The answer to the other question that I have found is to spray the glass or whatever with pam or something of the sort.
