My name is Pat (a.k.a. Queen Patricia).  It's GOOD TO BE QUEEN.  I live in Portland, Maine.  Over 50?  Mmmm. YUP.  I pretty much do all things fabric.  Apparently not enough though when I look at the stash.  I work a job and a half.  Have two grown (sort of) children, 4 cats, a husband, and am the oldest of 11, love them all too.  I found this magazine in my optometrist office and got hooked.  I did post this AM that I need to know how to get past issues.  I need the spring one with the Citrus wall art.  I'm looking forward to receiving my first magazine.  Thank you.

Hello Pat and welcome to our little group.  You've just made me very envious.  According to my map, you live only a few miles from Cape Elizabeth and our Catmac.  I've long wanted to meet her but it appears you could have the opportunity first.  Being so close, you'll have to plan some lunch/craft sessions together.  I'll just sit here and pout because I'm left out.

If it's only the Citrus project you need from the Spring magazine, I have it scanned in to my computer and will send it to you if you PM me with your e-mail address.  Please don't post it here for God and everyone to see.  Just hit the "message" button at the bottom of one of my posts.

Hello, my name is Shirley, I am married, live in Arvada, CO.  I am 49 years young, and am a full time working woman.  I have 2 grown daughters, 3 step children all grown, and 6 step grandchildren whom I adore.  I love crafts of all types, but have rheumatiod arthritis, which hinders my real passion of cross-stitch and needlepoint when it is flaring.  When not working or crafting, we enjoy being out-of doors as much as possible.  I also collect open salts, the little dishes which pre-dated the common salt shaker.

Hi, I'm Lori. I am a 48 year old married craft junkie! I live in Spring Hill, Florida and I'm a Floral Manager for Winn Dixie. My favorite things to do are crocheting and sewing. I also know how to knit a little. Lately I have been sewing vintage aprons. The trouble is, I can't bear to get them dirty so I don't wear them!! I'd LOVE to hear about what everyone else is working on.

Ok, so how do I get either the avatar or pic to show up right? I can't find anywhere that shows what the specs are for size, etc. And if I want my pic to show up with my name in posts, do I put it in as an avatar or a pic? Any help for the newbie would be appreciated! Thanks

And - does the info we put in our profiles actually show up anywhere?? Because I haven't been able to view it either! If not, what good is it?! Why even have it? I'm confused!

Welcome!

Sorry I can't help much with your avatar except that you must go to Photobucket.com, set up an account, and post a photo there.  Then you go to "My account" at the top of the page to add it to your profile.  I can't tell you how it's done since it's been so long ago I can't remember.

We have several people who are more computer savvy but they aren't around much right now.

Once you get everything straightened out, I hope you'll post a pic of your pig piggy band.  Just the name sounds interesting.  You're into so many crafts that I'm sure you'll have lots of input for us in different areas.  You're also invited to ask whatever questions you have and someone can usually find an answer for you.  Sharing info is a lot of what we're about here.

One of the best ways to get acquainted is to read thru some posts, post answers if the thread isn't real old and irrelevant, and drop into some photobuckets to see what everyone does.

Hello. Thanks for the welcome. I have registered with photobcket. I put some pics on there of the recycled pig piggy bank I made from newspaper-2liter bottle-and egg cartons. I havent organized albums yet but it should be on the front page soon as you get there. I will be organizing folders so chac members that want to look at crafts can go straight to them without having to go through others. Thank you again and have a nice day. It's nice and sunny here in parkersburg wv today. http://photobucket.com/kemperneck

Hi Kemper and welcome! I love those pics of the bridge! And the piggy bank. How did you get the tail on there? Do you like decopage it and then paint it? That is a cool idea. Deb

Hi Boop, I posted elsewhere about how much I like the piggy idea.  I'm guessing the egg carton sections are glued on for feet and the entire piece is covered with papier mache' (newspaper pieces dipped in Mod Podge, thinned Elmer's glue or wallpaper paste.)  The ears could be cardboard or mat board and the tail is probably a wire, all poked into slots cut into the bottle.  Wouldn't he be cute with black teddy bear eyes punched in after the papier mache' is complete?

I love the colors in the bridge pic too.  I've attached 2 pics from a professional friend of ours that are also noteworthy if you enjoy bridge photos as I do.

Hello again. On the piggy bank the tail is just twisted up newspaper covered with duct tape. egg cartons are used for the feet and the ears are cut out from the egg carton. instead of using so much mod podge I mixed 1 part flour to 1 part water and put a layer of newspaper on let it dry then put another layer and the final layer I covered with mod podge. I painted him white with a couple big black spots. I gave him to my maintenance man's daughter before I took a pic of the final project. I love using stuff around the house to make things. My husband and I both are creative. All of my rat cages are homemade except for the one that was a rabbit cage and we did some glitching to it. I am currently crocheting a rug out of plastic shopping bags. I cut them in strips and knot together and roll in a ball and crochet just like you would with yarn. The bridge pic is of out new pomeroy/mason county wv bridge. It was just opened last year. It is a site to see at night. We all love it. point pleasant wv is my hometown. I have lived in parkersburg for a year now. following the money. Point pleasant is home of the "Mothman" I'm sure you've heard of that... Every town has something and that's ours. LoL. Thanks for checking me out and have a good day.

Just joined today - I make beaded jewelry and hand knit hats scarves and mittens. I work full time at a feed and grain plus store and have a lovely daughter in her second year at college. My husband and I have lived in the same very small house for over 25 years and I have made it into what I hope is the most comfortable place we - with a lake veiw to boot! Crafting and decorating has helped take a nonexistant budget and make this a great place to live.

Hello~

My name is Ginger. I'm in my late 30's and live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

I've been crocheting for only a few years. I really struggle with reading directions for patterns, either diagrams or words. I am in the middle of at least a dozen projects, I work on what I feel like at the time.  Lately I've been making hats and fingerless mittens. My current project, the one sitting in my crochet bag is a wheel chair wrap.  I think I'm going to make it bigger and use it in the truck. DH and I have huge differences of opinions on what the temperature of a vehicle should be and I usually end up chilled.

I've been beading for 5 years. I've sold a few pieces mostly to co-workers and a couple on ebay.  I've also participated in a craft fair.  I finally found some coil-less safety pins and have a bunch of ideas for them, just don't feel like beading at the moment though.

I've been cross stitching for as long as I can remember.  Haven't done a lot of that lately, but do like using cross stitch patterns for crocheting.

In the past I've enjoyed decorating and painting. One winter I taped and painted a huge basket weave pattern on my bedroom walls.  I enjoyed it but it was very amateur and would love to have my current house look better than what I did to the last place.

I married and have a step son who lives with his mother.  I have two dogs and three cats.  DH recently had a aortic valve replacement surgery and I've been home with him for the last few weeks. Looks like I will be home another couple weeks.  I am a CENA at the Long Term Care Unit at the local hospital.

I am a huge Nascar fan, in fact I'm watching the Texas race as I type this. I've been working on typing this for about 20 minutes b/c I keep watching the race instead of paying attention to this.

So, that's me. I joined b/c I'm interested in learning more about the crafts I know and am always keeping my mind open to new ideas.

Hi, my name is Liz.  I lived in Maine most of my adult life and now live in Texas.  Have to admit that I'm having a difficult time adjusting to how flat it is here!  Anyways, I am an avid cross stitcher and generally have 4-5 projects going at any one time.  I am addicted to scrapbooking and cardmaking and hold a crop at my home every week.  I teach my group of gals a new technique or project weekly.  We have a blast!  I'm a 55 y/o disabled mother of 1 and grandmother of 2 active boys.  If anyone has primitive cross stitch patterns that they'd like to share, I'd be thrilled!  I have to stitch the patterns on Aida because these old eyes just won't let me work on linen anymore!  I've been looking for some Americana type patterns with old flags and crows.  Anyone want to share?

Welcome Liz. I too do a lot of cross stitch and I work on Aida because it is eaiser on my eyes. I am really busy right now trying to finish a bingo game here on the threads under round robin and I am in the secret santa game here also, and trying to get things ready to come to Texas for Thanksgiving with my family. I was born and raised in Texas and want to go back some day. Moved to Arkansas to take care of my hubbys mother (she is 93). Will look throught my patters after the holidays and see what I might have that you are looking for. Let me know what you are looking for? Small, large????? Linda
