Hey everybody check out this wreath I just finished making. I like collecting ornamental gourds every holiday season to dry out and then just sit around or pack them up for next year. This year though I decided to put all the vines in my yard to good use and made a wreath with them and then took the gourds and hooked them to it with wire along with some fake greenery and a big black crow. (Which I will be taking off after halloween so the wreath can hang for Thanksgiving.)
I have it hanging on my front door right now.
If you do go check out the pics on photobucket dont laugh at my door. It is full of scratches that I have tried to cover up with coffee, tea, minwax and it just isnt covering good. I hate to replace the old thing as it is about 100 years old. The house I live in was built in 1869 I hate changing anything.
Check out the door knob and the hinges on this door are the old 2 part metal engraved. Aw I just love it and put up with the scratches. Cant bring myself to change the old beautiful thing.

Would love to see the picture, but you only posted a link to photobucket's home page.

I think I fixed the link to my photobucket now so everyone who wants can see the pics of the wreath and not just the home page of photobucket.
Thanks for letting me know about this problem.
I put the addy in to. When I click on the view all link it opens up to kemperneck photo album, and thats with me not being logged in.
But I went ahead and put the addy in as well just in case it doesnt work for everyone the other way.
again thank you, Enjoy..

Hello and thank you for letting me know this. I think I fixed it. You have to click on the view all link and not the get yours link. It worked for me on both but I went ahead and manually put the link address in.
have a good one

The wreath is lovely, so festively fall!
The door is beautiful too. You could strip it and refinish it to get rid of the scratches. It would still keep it's antique character, just less scratchy.

Like the wreath also.
I was wondering, could you use Old English on the door..I have done it before on some chairs and it hides the scratches well...try a little down on the bottom first and then see how it goes. Judy's Photo Album

I wouldn't replace the door. The knicks and scratches are what gives it character. I have found Old English to work really well. Use a good amound then shine up the whole door with the same rag.

Thank you ladies.
I am torn about the door.
I think I am going to leave it alone. I love the metal hinges with the engravings on them. All of the doors still have them. I will have to take some pics up close of them and post for everyone to see. they are beautiful. I have put paper over some of them and did a engraving rub off. I think my paper was too thin it didnt turn out the way I wanted it to.I am currently working on a door knob downstairs that was painted over with white paint. I just love this ol house and its many creaks cracks burbs. LoL.
This old house was built in 1869. I'm not sure if the door is an original but I'd say its pretty close.
I live in the historical district of parkersburg wv and there are alot of old beautiful houses around here.
They sure dont make um like they used to.
