Judy,
There's a little in us all especially those who have been teasing you [I won't name names].
I love all of your light bulbs. I showed them to my husband and he thought they were cool. What method did you use on the 2 new ones?

LOL you ladies. But I think the orange ones look like "hes" too. I think it's that look on their faces like they're thinking about their cars. And the mouths, thicker lips would look more feminine.

Like most I've been a dabbler too. Sewing, embroidery, latch hook, decoupage, wreaths, flower arranging, eggery, doll making, and now I do scrapbooking & greeting cards where I can tie my love of jewelry making, water color & clay art into them. My goal is to get set-up making custom cards with a percentage of the sales to go to the following: breast cancer research (I'm a survivor), autism, Saint Judes, and PAWS. I am doing a section of cards dedicated to family pets for the PAWS donations. I am a life time member & just started looking at this site tonight & love reading everything from all you talented people.

JANIS!!!!!!!! Jaaaaaaaaannnnniiiissss!!!! I just checked my trusty road atlas and found that Crestview is only 20 miles from Niceville. How long before you and bcrafte can meet and have lunch. Heck, that close, I'd be having crafting sessions with her---often. More and more I realize I have to find my way to Springfield and Aunt Pam. Jenx.

Welcome to the group! I think most of us have dabbled in more than one craft. Some are just more talented than others.
Looking forward to seeing your cards. I am a cardmaker, but haven't been at it for awhile since I have been busy with summer, getting my son off to college again, and getting my house back in order after redecorating.
Welcome, welcome, welcome!

Baby, they're not difficult at all---Pretty much self explanatory. I wet the leaves for a few seconds under the faucet and pull several of the lowest ones downward toward the ear of corn. Split the leaves wherever needed to divide them on either side of the face. Divide these into thirds and braid. Glue on a headband, feather and eyes. You can tie them in multiples of three as I like to do or use a single ear. Either way, tie a bow around the remaining upturned leaves and wire to hang.
Usually, I would use the large "wiggle" eyes but the Co-op where I intend to take them won't allow them so I found large paper fasteners from the scrapbooking dept at Michaels and painted them. I had to cut off the back to glue them on but they work.
Years ago I saw one hanging beside someone's door as I was delivering mail. That was just one ear with all of the leaves divided into the braids---none turned upward. I hurried back to my jeep, made a quick sketch of it and added a few changes when I made mine. Glad you like them. Jenx

Jenx those are sooo cute! Lillie, our grocery stores have those little corn bundles in the produce section, check there. Also check 'green markets', health food stores, anything that sells produce items might have them. Good luck, nice idea for a tray favor

Lillie, How about ghosts? My idea got a "cute" from Bill so it can't be too bad; especially since I didn't solicit it.
I made my usual type of sandbag bottom---a sandwich bag (not zip kind) with about 1/3 C sand, tied off. Cover that with a circle of mylar gift wrap and tie off. I like to double bag mine just in case. I poked a short kabob skewer into the opening and padded the top with blanket batting (wadded a small piece into circle piece and tied it on.). I cut a circle of white plastic from a Wal-Mart bag and drew a face with marker. I have an abhorance of ghosts that look like they're hanging by the neck, choking so I ran a piece of double stick tape around his head and used it to stick his "sheet" on. That way it flows freely. He's already in my bucket.
This is similar to the way I make larger ghosts to hang in the trees outdoors. I use white plastic trash bags and balloons. They have pointy heads------I'm sitting here trying to think of a way to explain them and can't so I guess I'll have to make one to post. Shortly......
__________________________________________________________________
My only white trash bags are the stretch kind and won't work so I drew a diagram and posted it in my bucket. Hope it's clear enough.
You can also make large ones like the tray favor one if you buy one of the dollar store white plastic table cloths. Jenx

Thanks Jenx, I already decided to make jack-o-lanterns from little gourds. It was a kind of 'DUH" moment when I walked by my little gourd and ghost arrangment! I have plenty little gourds in my box of freebies from gourd society. and they will be cheery for the patient, I hope! We have a very small hospital, only 18 beds, and rarely have more than 6 patients, so I don't have to make very many favors. But, I'm hanging on to the ghost idea you described!

Lillie, I actually thought of pumpkin gourds first but assumed you'd have lots to do and the gourds can be pretty valuable when you're using them as tray favors. I'm sure they'll be greatly appreciated. Do we get photos?
Thank you, Rudy, Hermy, and all; glad you like them. I think Bill liked the ghosts a bit more than I thought. He asked me to make them for favors for our Halloween party/dance. I just finished 46 of them. (Don't know how many we'll need but will probably find something else to add to them just in case.) He helped by cutting all of the mylar wrap and white plastic.
The park doesn't always have a Halloween dance because it costs so much for a band or DJ.
Bill's been working all summer getting equipment ready so he can play at DJ rather than paying someone else. He's been collecting music as well and hopes to enlarge his song list as he goes along. We had a great set of speakers that we don't use anymore and he bought whatever else he needs at one of his hamfests---cheap. With the laptop, he's set to try it out.
Since the entire thing was his idea, we do the work. However, I recall offering the suggestion several years ago that we all donate our favorite music (Or burn copies of it) and provide our own music for our dances. Where do you think his bright idea came from????

Jenx, you are so right about the gourds...and if I didn't have a box of freebies, and if I had to make more than 6, I might not do them, I must get my rear in gear to get them done. I bought the little indian corn tonight! I can hardly wait to do them...thanks for the idea.

OK, I backed out of my gourd idea, i must have been out of my gourd! Halloween is almost here! so i printed some folded cards with the picture of my ghost and pumpkin gourds and put a pretty Trick of Treat on he back. I took them to the kitchen today and they liked them a lot. I used my Printmaster program, which like a lot.
